The Brandywine Black Tomato is a striking heirloom variety known for its rich, complex flavor and beautiful dark coloration. The large fruits typically weigh 10–16 ounces and have a deep, dusky red-brown color with dark purple undertones. The flesh is meaty and dense, with a smoky, earthy flavor and a mild sweetness, making it perfect for slicing, sandwiches, or fresh salads.
Indeterminate plants grow to 5–7 feet tall, producing a consistent yield of large, flavorful tomatoes throughout the season. They thrive in full sun and require consistent watering to maintain the best flavor and texture. Due to the size of the tomatoes, staking or caging is often necessary to support the plant.
80-90 days from transplant. Dusky purple /black color. A natural cross between Brandywine Pink and an unknown black parent. Enjoy that great Brandywine flavor. Very juicy. Potato leaf. Great yields. Dates back to the late 1800's.
