The Red Pear Tomato is a unique and flavorful heirloom variety known for its distinctive pear-like shape and vibrant red color. The small to medium-sized fruits typically weigh 2–4 ounces and have a smooth, firm texture. The flesh is juicy and slightly tangy, offering a sweet, balanced flavor that's perfect for fresh eating, salads, or making homemade sauces.
Indeterminate plants grow to 4–5 feet tall, producing a steady yield of these bright red, pear-shaped tomatoes throughout the growing season. These plants thrive in full sun and benefit from consistent moisture to ensure optimal flavor and fruit quality. Staking or caging is recommended to support the plants and prevent the fruit from touching the ground.
75 days from transplant. One of the oldest American Heirloom tomatoes, dating back to the 1700’s. Extremely high yields of red, pear shaped cherries, about 1-1.5 inches in length. Very good well balanced flavor. Also consider planting yellow pear and chocolate pear as well. Great in salads or for fresh eating.
