Named after the Sioux Indians, the Super Sioux Tomato is a hardy, early-season heirloom variety known for its rich flavor and dependable performance. The medium-sized fruits typically weigh 4–6 ounces and have a smooth, round shape with a vibrant red color. The flesh is juicy and tender, offering a well-balanced, sweet-tart flavor that makes it perfect for slicing, salads, or fresh eating.
Indeterminate plants grow to 4–5 feet tall, producing a steady yield of flavorful tomatoes throughout the growing season. This variety thrives in full sun and is particularly well-suited to cooler climates and shorter growing seasons. Staking or caging is recommended to help support the plant’s growth.
70-75 days from transplant. Developed by the University of Nebraska and released in 1944. Extremely heavy producer of red globes that are blemish-free and weigh an average of 6 ounces. Sweet, rich, classic tomato taste. This one has it all. Good choice for slicing and canning. Rumored to have originated from the Sioux Indians.
